London Broncos: A rugby league legacy in the heart of London
The London Broncos, a professional rugby league team based in South West London, boast a rich history that spans over four decades. Originally formed in 1980 as ‘Fulham RLFC,’ the club has undergone various name changes, including ‘London Crusaders,’ ‘Harlequins RL,’ and its current identity as ‘London Broncos.’ Throughout its illustrious 44-year history, the Broncos have found homes in several venues across London, from Twickenham Stoop to the Trailfinders Sports Club in Ealing, and currently, the Cherry Red Records Stadium.
The team has a noteworthy track record, with a Challenge Cup final appearance in 1999 against Leeds Rhinos and two Championship Grand Final victories leading to promotions to the Super League, first in 2019 and most recently in the 2023 season.
This Friday marks an exciting moment for the Broncos as they play their first home game of the 2024 Betfred Super League season, hosting Catalans Dragons at the Plough Lane
