Andreas Cüppers has extensive experience in the sports industry and has been working as Head of Consulting at the Hamburg-based agency Sweep, which advises sports rights holders on content marketing and provides operational support, since the fall of 2022.
After completing his master’s degree in social sciences and a journalism apprenticeship at a major German daily newspaper, he worked as an editor for several years. But since his passion has always been sports, he didn’t have to hesitate for a second when he joined the communications department of Borussia Mönchengladbach, a traditional Bundesliga football team, in 2012. There, he spent many years building up and expanding digital communications via website, app and, above all, social media.
In 2018, he took over responsibility for the club’s digital transformation and all innovation topics. In this role, he and his team drove forward the implementation of modern software solutions for a better fan experience and the optimization of internal processes, among other things. Data management was a central component of the digital strategy. In the fall of 2022, he left football after more than ten years and, in his new role at the agency, will be devoting himself primarily to clubs in the North American professional football league NFL.
